To coincide with Mental Health Awareness Week (15 - 21 May 2023) with this years theme of anxiety, Lamp is launching its annual Lamp 5k campaign to raise funds and awareness. Overcome your mental health mountain and overcome a challenge.

Story

Lamp navigates people through the complexities of mental health support and empowers them to rebuild their lives after experiencing mental health issues. To support Lamp - and the annual Lamp 5K fundraising campaign - I am doing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on 2 September 2023 and aim to raise £750 for the charity.

Each year, Lamp runs the Lamp 5K fundraising challenge. Its purpose is to increase awareness of Lamp's work and to raise funds for its work. This year, our theme for the Lamp 5K campaign is Climbing Mountains for Mental Health.

We chose this theme because we know from the people we support - whether experiencing mental health issues themselves, or caring for someone who is - that it can feel like climbing a mountain every day.

On average, to provide Lamp's expertise and support one person - to navigate them through the complexity of mental health support and to empower them to rebuild their life - costs £750. Of course, as I know from my own experiece growing up, it is not just the individual whose life is impacted by mental illness, it is the whole family.

Please sponsor me to take on this challenge. I have a choice in which mountains I climb. The people who Lamp supports very often do not.

About the charity

Mental Health is complex. Our advocacy work involves, listening, guiding, planning, supporting and ensuring their needs are properly considered. Mental Health cannot be ‘cured’ with one conversation, it takes time to form trust. Our advocates devote hours, days, months to provide the best support.
