HYROX Dublin Fundraiser for Macmillan
I’ve signed myself up for HYROX Dublin – a challenge that involves running (which I’m not exactly built for) and a whole lot of suffering! My goal is to finish in under 1 hour 15 minutes.
To make it interesting, I’ve promised that for every minute I go over 1:15, I’ll personally donate £10 to Macmillan. So either way, Macmillan wins… but I’d quite like my pride to win too!
Most of my “elite” training involves pushing a pram around Park Run in the rain or sweating it out on Zwift while wondering why I signed up for this in the first place. When I started this journey in April, I weighed 122kg and could just about manage a Park Run in sub 30 minutes. Since then, I’ve been training hard and before race day, I’ve set myself a few targets:
Get race weight below 105kg
Run a sub-25 minute Park Run with the buggy
Smash 340W for 20 minutes on the bike
On a serious note, Macmillan is an incredible charity that provides vital support to people and families affected by cancer. Every donation, big or small, will help them continue their amazing work – and it’ll give me that extra push when I feel like quitting mid-race.
Thank you so much for your support – let’s do this together! 💚
