Story

What? RAF Music cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats!

Who? 5 musicians, 1000 miles, 10 days - a ride of a lifetime!

When? 28 April - 7 May 2026

Land’s End to John o’ Groats is officially complete — and what an unforgettable challenge it turned out to be. True to the old saying that no plan survives first contact, it quickly became clear that with the mix of logistical challenges and cycling experience across the team, 100 miles a day just wasn’t realistic. So we adapted, reset, and pushed on.

We settled into a rhythm of 70+ miles a day, climbing more than 13,000 metres across some of the most spectacular routes in the UK. Every day demanded something different — grit, patience, humour — and the team delivered all of it, supporting one another through the highs, the lows, and the moments that tested us most.

The weather gave us a bit of everything too. Sunshine carried us from Cornwall through Cheshire, before the temperatures dropped sharply as we crossed Cumbria and rolled into Scotland. The final days were a battle against wind and cold, but mercifully, the rain stayed away.

Most importantly, we began as a team and we finished as a team — held together not just by determination, but by the incredible support crew who kept us moving, fed, safe, and smiling.

Thank you all for your generosity, encouragement, and belief in us throughout this journey.
