Koda’s Memorial Hike for Street Paws

Hike · 20 June 2024
Hey Everyone,
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Rich and on 20.06.2023 I had to say goodbye to my best buddy, a gorgeous little Shar-Pei called Koda. He sadly passed away just after his 8th birthday (18th of June) from a heart attack brought on by complications caused by a condition known as Shar-Pei Fever.
He was full of character who loved to do things at his own pace (which was mainly lazing around on the sofa), but the second I took the “adventure backpack” out of the cupboard he would run around the house barking and getting me to hurry up because he knew we were going for a hike to somewhere exciting.
So that’s why on the 18th and 20th of June 2024 I’m going to be doing a couple of his favourite hikes in memory of what would have been his 9th birthday and the 1st anniversary of his passing. These will be the Kinderscout Trail in the Peak District and Llanberis Path in Snowdonia. And I am going to be doing this to raise money for Street Paws.
Street Paws are a charity who provide support to those with pets who are currently experiencing homelessness. They do this by helping with funding for veterinary care, giving guidance on how to help people settle their pups into temporary accommodation such as hostels, and also working with organisations who support homeless people to achieve these goals and make sure that pets aren’t forgotten and can be helped at every step of the way.
I’ve been fortunate to have worked alongside Street Paws in my career and can say that they are always there to help in whatever capacity they can. I have also seen just how much a beloved pet means to those who face homelessness, and that one of their biggest fears is not being able to help their best friend through illness.
Every donation will make such a big difference to a set of paws out there. So thank you all in advance from Koda and me!
