This year, we're taking on the Great North Run in support of Percy Hedley Foundation, a charity that is incredibly close to our hearts.

My brother Niall, attended Percy Hedley School and College for 16 years. Throughout that time, the school provided him with outstanding support for his autism and additional needs, helping him develop confidence, independence, and skills that have had a lasting impact on his life.

This year's Great North Run is particularly special for us. It will be my dad Richard's 16th Great North Run and my (Aisling's) 8th, and we're excited to be joined by Brandon (my soon-to-be husband) as he takes on the challenge for the very first time.

We have seen first-hand the difference that Percy Hedley makes to children and young people with disabilities and additional needs, as well as the support it provides to their families. Taking part in the Great North Run is our way of giving something back and helping ensure that others can benefit from the same opportunities and care that Niall received.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help Friends of Percy Hedley continue its fantastic work. They provide gifts for students at Christmas & Easter and support special events in school throughout the year. They have also provided funding for the outdoor learning area.

The highlight of our day is the huge welcome we get from Niall and my mum Eileen who volunteer at the Percy Hedley tent in the charity village.
