Story
I am an older church pastor, not at all a runner, but I love getting out in remote places and want to raise money for a ministry I have seen make a difference in my church. Truth is I am nervous and don’t know if I can do this, but doing something difficult for something that is important and makes a difference in people’s lives makes sense to me.
This is me...
Over my life I have done some different sports but always come back to running. Largely I have been a slow jogger and only did the London Marathon 30 years ago. I then discovered the joy of trail jogging. The joy of following a map and never really knowing what’s around the next corner.
As soon as I started to do one or two events with the Long Distance Walking Association (they welcome runners) I damaged my knee and then badly damaged my ankle, so have not been able to do any jogging for the last 3 years.
This year - 2024 - I hope to do the Brecon Beacon 70-mile event with GB ultras on July 27th . It is truly a real challenge, and at 62 years old I find getting fit takes much more work and consistency.
Freedom in Christ is the charity I would love to support by raising £1000. Why? As a pastor, I have seen first hand the difference this ministry makes in people’s lives. So many wonderful believers live for years in Christ but never knowing the wonderful freedom He gives us.
