Overgate Hospice is a charity which is close to my heart. My father received respite care at the Elland hospice only a couple of years ago and since then my wife Amanda first volunteered then joined the workforce on the Charity retail operation. I have been searching for an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution for some time now but my activities have been somewhat curtailed due to a serious traffic collision in 2019. My treatment for numerous injuries has been ongoing ever since, with the latest being pelvic realignment, hip replacement and femur repair in September of this year. I have decided that now is the time to step up literally, and give back. The Inca Trail Trek is the challenge and the timing is perfect. My rehabilitation and exercise programme will morph into training for the Trek to be completed in October 2026. The trek is 55 kilometres over testing terrain at altitude. I am determined to succeed and, I will be accompanied by my wife who has been unwavering in her support of my physical and mental rehabilitation since 2019. We are not asking for help to cover the cost of the trip as we are paying this ourselves. However, we are asking if anyone could donate any amount, however small as sponsorship funds to be paid towards the running of Overgate Hospice. The charity does amazing work and it is rare to find anybody locally who does not know somebody who has benefitted from their care.
