Rich and friends 60km Ultra Marathon fundraiser for Stratford upon Avon Samaritans

60KM run to Putney along Thames Pathway · 17 August 2024
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page for the 60km Stratford Upon Avon Samaritans Challenge.
On Saturday 17th August Jamie Collins, Oli Grove, Tom Wright, Josh Beebee, Tom Goldwater, Gary McIntyre, Jack Gravestock, Rich Vande Putte, Rich Pearce, Freddie Dixon and myself are aiming to run 60km from Windsor to Putney along the Thames Pathway in order to raise vital funds for the Stratford Upon Avon Samaritans. None of us have ever covered this distance in one fell swoop on foot ever before, so this is sure to be a true test of endurance.
Thankfully a number of our close friends, family and good samaritans have signed up to join us and run some slightly smaller distances on the day along the Thames Pathway. If you'd like to join then do please save the date and let me know in advance. The day will end in Putney at The Dukes Head overlooking the River Thames for drinks following the run.
The main aim and reason why we are doing this is to raise vital funding for Stratford upon Avon Samaritans who currently have a fairly large funding gap. Stratford Upon Avon Samaritans contribute around 20,000 hours of vital listening support to members of the public within the South Warwickshire district.
To put this into simple terms, without the additional funding that we are trying to help deliver, this branch wouldn't be able answer around 4,000 calls, 1,000 of which would be from members of our community that are experiencing suicidal thoughts - this shouldn't be ignored and is important.
Why would you donate?
£10 would answer 2 calls for help, £20 could help recruit and train a volunteer who will answer around 12 calls for help on each shift. We welcome any donations, large or small.
We look forward to seeing you along the Thames Pathway on Saturday 17th August 2024.
