Story
The Freedom Project is a beacon of hope in West Cumbria, dedicated to providing free, long-term, community-based support to those affected by domestic abuse. For over 22 years, it has been committed to helping individuals reclaim their lives and find safety. Its work extends to perpetrators, families, and children, ensuring that no one faces this journey alone. Last year alone, it saw a staggering 57% increase in referrals, highlighting the urgent need for its services.
Its key offerings include a helpline that provides immediate assistance, group support for both adults and children who have experienced abusive relationships, as well as one-to-one counselling and training sessions tailored to individual needs. Each story encountered is unique and personal; every person who needs help is seeking understanding and a way forward.
To help support this amazing organisation, I am doing the Great North Run on September 7th, 2025. I’m not aware of anyone who has needed help. But the statistics suggest that it is likely that a number of people I know will have needed help such as the services provided by the Freedom Project.
My target is to raise £350 to help support this vital work. Please consider donating today.
