Lockton Summer Fair

Also, on Friday 4th September, 2026 we will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. This cause is very close to all our hearts, as we have all sadly lost someone close to us to cancer. Our neighbour and friend Richard was recently diagnosed with cancer and has always been there to help and support us all, so we wanted to be part of his incredible fundraising efforts for Macmillan. We are taking on this challenge which is a 24 mile hike to be completed within 12 hours to show our support and help raise vital funds for a charity that provides so much care and support to people and families affected by cancer. Any donation, no matter how big or small, would mean so much to us. Thank you for your support.

Richard’s Story.

From an early age Cancer has always been within my life.

As a teenager my younger brother succumbed to Leukaemia in the 1960s.

My father also died of Lung Cancer.

Fortunately Cancer has not impacted directly on my family during the majority of my lifetime, but friends and other family members have faced many challenges that this disease has presented.

However, in 2025 after a significant period of unexplained symptoms I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkinsons Lymphoma in July 2025.

My cancer journey, like most people with this disease has been a rollercoaster and after months of Chemotherapy I was told I was Cancer free.

Like everyone treading and experiencing this pathway the spectre of Cancer is relentless, but I will always stay optimistic and determined in continuing to attain complete remission. I am deeply grateful to the Doctors, Nurses, my family, friends and everyone who has reached out with kindness and encouragement.

The positive steps I can take is to ease the way for those have been diagnosed, those receiving treatment and those yet to be diagnosed of this awful disease is by raising funds on behalf of McMillan who support all kinds of Cancer diagnosis, treatment and care.

Thank you for your support.
