The 7 Cities 800 mile Mountain Bike Race · 15 August 2025

Our mission is to Bridge The Gap faced by people trying to access support for their mental health, removing barriers to keeping people well. We champion a blended approach of exercise sessions and talking therapy as first line treatment and we strive for this to be accessible to all.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This is wild!

I’m taking on an epic 800-mile (1,300km) mountain bike race around Wales in the UK and raising money for Bridging the Gap (BTG), a brilliant local charity that’s close to my heart.

This ultra-distance challenge, known as the “7 Cities of Wales,” is a self-supported, mixed-terrain race covering 800 miles and 20,000 metres of climbing through rugged hills, remote trails, and the breathtaking landscapes of the. Black Mountains, Snowdonia, the Cambrian Mountains, and more. I will (hopefully!) pass through all seven of Wales’s cities: Newport, Cardiff, Swansea, St Davids, Bangor, St Asaph, Wrexham — before finishing where it all began in Rogerstone, Newport

I do some mountain biking but this is by far the toughest ride I’ve ever attempted and I know it will push me to my limit (especially at my age - I’m hoping the adage ‘age is just a number’ really is true) and I will most certainly give it my best shot.

I’m wanting to raise over £1,500 for Bridging the Gap (BTG) which is a charity doing incredible work supporting mental health through a powerful blend of exercise and talking therapy. My own son benefitted from their unique approach and I’ve seen firsthand the positive difference they make in people’s lives.

BTG helps remove barriers to mental health support, offering early-stage help at the point of need, before things reach crisis point. They support people to stay well - physically, mentally and emotionally - and I’m proud to support their work.

If you can spare a few pounds to support this ride and so contribute to this amazing charity, I’d be hugely grateful. Every donation helps BTG continue to be there for those who need it most. Your generosity will be massive

part of my motivation!

Thank you 🙏
