Many of you will know my brother Richard has recently passed after a nearly 6 year battle against melanoma. Throughout this time his happy place was kayaking on the water with members of the Tyne Valley Canoe club, who were a great support to him.

Before his passing, Rick wanted his sea boat to go to Rachel, one of the club members who he was very close to. She has named the boat Odin in his honour. Rachel is going to kayak 100km in 2 days in Odin from Tweedmouth to Tynemouth to raise money for MacMillan cancer care with other members of the club. This epic feat will take place on the 23rd and 24th of August with an extra day as back up in case circumstances prevent completion in 2 days.

This wonderful charity supported our whole family throughout Rick’s journey and especially in his last weeks. Any money raised will go directly to the charity and help support other cancer patients and their families.
