Story

Dear friends and family,

Thank you for visiting our (Theo, Fergus, & Andy's) fundraising page, setting out the three challenges we're tackling to raise money for the amazing Ronald McDonald House Charities UK. Because it goes even further to highlight the incredible work that RMHC do (and we are all fiercely competitive), we are taking on not one, but three sporting challenges over the next few months! This kicks off with Theo running the TCS London Marathon on Sunday 27th April 2025, with Fergus and Andy taking on the hillier, definitely chillier Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday 25th May. Finishing off in style, Andy will set out to become an IRONMAN in Copenhagen on 17th August. We are incredibly grateful for all of your support, and hope to keep you updated along the way.

Ronald McDonald House is a charity that provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families with children receiving treatment in hospital. These Houses offer so much more than just a place to stay; they provide family activities, peer support, respite, and many other services, and mean that families can be by their child’s bedside in a matter of moments. The new Ronald McDonald House at Oxford Children's Hospital opened in 2020, providing a supportive and comforting place to stay for 1,100 families in 2024. This was particularly exciting for our family, as our grandmother, Cherry, was instrumental in fundraising for and opening the Oxford Children's Hospital in 2007, and has played an active role in RMHC since, receiving a lifetime achievement award for her contributions in 2024. The Melanie Richardson Ward (Melanie's Ward) continues to provide life-saving cancer treatment to teenagers aged 11-16 at the Children's Hospital, in memory of our aunt Melanie, who died from kidney cancer aged 19.

Any donation makes a huge difference to the thousands of families staying at Ronald McDonald Houses, helping them stay close to their children during the most challenging times. We truly appreciate your generosity and support.

With heartfelt thanks,

Theo, Fergus, & Andy Rich
