Story
I’m returning to the trails for the Beachy Head Half Marathon, raising money for Medical Aid for Palestinians.
The reason is personal.
Some years ago, I travelled to Gaza to teach and deliver training on persistent pain.
I spent time with Palestinian healthcare professionals who welcomed me warmly, shared their experiences with me, and were deeply committed to caring for the people around them.
Some of the people I worked with are no longer with us.
I think about this and the extraordinary need for medical care, rehabilitation, supplies and support for Palestinians in Gaza and beyond.
There is so much that is beyond my control.
But I can do something.
Running has been part of my life for many years. For two years, I ran an ultramarathon every month to raise awareness of persistent pain, and latterly to support MAP.
Now I’m returning to the trails for another run for the same cause.
Not because running a half marathon changes everything.
It doesn’t.
But small actions matter when they become part of something bigger.
MAP provides medical and humanitarian support to Palestinians, and this run is simply one way I can help contribute to that work.
It is also a way of remembering the people I met, worked alongside and learned from.
People I have not forgotten.
So I’ll run Beachy Head with them very much in mind.
If you would like to support me, I would be hugely grateful for any donation, whatever the amount.
And if donating isn’t possible, sharing this page would mean a great deal too.
This is my small part.
Thank you for being part of it.
With care,
