Rick's fundraiser for UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation

During the month of September, I will be coming out of retirement to perform my autobiographic monologue, ‘A Fine Li(n)e’, at Liberty Magic, in my hometown of Pittsburgh. The run of twelve shows will mark my first time in front of live theater audiences in seven years. You see, I was prematurely “retired” nearly three decades ago when a drunk driver hit my family head on back in November of 1996. But, more importantly, that crash severely injured four other family members…including my eight-year-old daughter, Jamie.
After being taken to a hospital near the crash, we did everything in our power to get Jamie transferred to Children's Hospital. And we did so not a moment too soon. After arriving at Children’s, she was immediately rushed into an examination room, and within three minutes, she was being prepped for emergency surgery. We were told there was a very strong chance she would not survive the procedure. And when she finally came out of surgery, we were told she probably wouldn’t make it through the night.
In an attempt to spare you all of the details, Jamie is now in her mid-thirties. She is happily married, and very successful in her career. That said, none of that would be the case if not for the dedication, passion, and heart of the many caring souls at Children’s Hospital.
As for the twelve shows I am currently doing for The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, every penny of my performance fee is going directly to Children’s Hospital. For those who are interested in learning more, click the following link for complete details and tickets:

In addition, this page—this humble fundraiser—is simply a father’s way of trying to repay a debt he could never repay in a million years; and I am asking if you may be able to help me to help kids in need. After all, every dollar is important; as is the care and wellbeing of every child that ever enters Children’s Hospital.
