Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Another year, another chance to run in honour of my boy Super Teddy Walsh.
Teddy was diagnosed with GRIN2D in May 2022. Amongst other symptoms, it resulted in complex epilepsy. Teddy spent a lot of time during his short life in and out of hospital, mainly due to seizures. Despite all he endured, he showed us strength and courage in all that he did. A fan of Fleetwood Mac, swimming and a good bedtime story, we made sure he could enjoy as much as possible until he passed away in June 2023.
On Sunday 19th April 2026 I will be running the Manchester Marathon again for the charity that gave us so much and supported our beautiful son Teddy during his journey. I’m asking for donations however small to support the Daisy Garland Charity. A non-profit charity that supports children and their families who have been diagnosed with epilepsy. Their work means vital oxygen monitors can be provided to families to facilitate their everyday needs and give them peace of mind their child is monitored should a seizure occur. The charity also helps fund ketogenic dieticians, another important part of keeping children with epilepsy safe.
Donate whatever you can and please help support this worthy cause in memory of our Super Ted and allow others to have hope in making such special memories. Teddy’s legacy lives on in us and hopefully through everything we do.
Anyone who wishes to come and cheer me on and help me round the course will be more than welcome. Thank you.
Rick (Teddy’s daddy)
If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together. There is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart… I’ll always be with you
