Story

On the 17th of May, we're going again! The incredible Rickleton Crew will be taking on the Active Sunderland 3K – all in the name of an incredible cause: Great North Air Ambulance Service. Last year, this amazing crew ran for Cancer Research and all you lovely people helped them smash their target, raising over £1,100. With that said, this time round expectations are VERY high…

This year we’ve chosen the Great North Air Ambulance Service – a charity that rescues hundreds of severely injured and critically ill patients every single year across the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. In 2024 alone, they responded to 2,083 call-outs by helicopter and emergency response vehicles, delivering life-saving treatment at the scene – whether that’s on a fell top, at the roadside, or in a busy city centre. And as always, we’ve got a special connection…the dad of two of our runners, Georgia and Esme, works for GNAAS!

The fantastic team taking on the 3K challenge are:

Florence, Felix, Frances, Juliet, Sophia, Joseph, Juliette, Sienna, Charlie, Georgia, Zara, Layton Hudson, Georgia, Esme, Violet, Scarlett, Phoebe and Layton Sheriff..plus a bunch of us adults who will be trailing behind!

They’ll be running, jogging, skipping, possibly complaining, almost definitely asking “how much further?”, but most importantly, they’ll be doing it to help keep this vital service flying and saving lives.

GNAAS is entirely charity-funded, which means every donation – big or small – genuinely makes a difference. Your support will help keep the helicopters in the air, the critical care teams on the road, and ensure they can continue delivering life-saving treatment when it’s needed most.

If you can spare a few pounds to cheer them on (and help us try to beat last year’s total!), we’d be incredibly grateful. Thank you so much for supporting our running heroes, and wish them luck on the 17th May. Let's go team Rickleton!!!
