My awesome old man was diagnosed with Alzheimers and Vascular Dementia in late 2023. Dad, Mum, Dave and I had a fairly strange time running up to that diagnosis which we now realise Dad was succumbing to the symptoms of both.

My Mum is now Dad's full time carer. My brother Dave is on hand regularly to support Dad (and Mum) too and my wife Ash and I do what we can between life with the kids and work. Its a team effort for supporting Dad and also supporting each other.

Dad will always be Dad, but it is difficult to watch him as his symptoms progress knowing the beast he once was. That being said, he still pumps iron every Friday with his PT and loves it!

I wanted to do something this year that I know that Raymondo will be proud of. Running for Alzheimers Scotland seemed fitting. The work they have done and continue to do is simply incredible. He will be there with Mum watching me roll over the finish line like a funny shaped beetroot.
