Ride home from Riga fundraiser for East Anglia's Children's Hospices

John Curtis is raising money for East Anglia's Children's Hospices

Riga to Ipswich Cycle Ride · 3 August 2025

We care for children & young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambs, Essex, Norfolk & Suffolk and support their families. This can be at home, in hospital or at one of three hospices at Milton, The Treehouse and The Nook. We rely on voluntary donations for the majority of our income.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Please support me in my challenge to cycle over 1,200 miles (2000km) by leaving Riga in Latvia on the 3rd of August after the Latvian Speedway Grand Prix at the Bikernieki Stadium with the aim to get back home to Foxhall Stadium, Ipswich in time to see Ipswich (Tru7 Plant) Witches ride against Belle Vue Aces 12 days later on the 14th of August to raise money for East Anglia's Children's Hospices.

Please visit https://www.each.org.uk/ to find out more about this amazing charity and the work they do.

The ride will see me cycle solo and unsupported from Latvia into Lithuania, across Poland, Germany and the Netherlands before finally arriving in the UK.

I already have so many people to thank as well as my family for enabling me to attempt this challenge including M Group, Rackhams Auto Body Centre, SIRIS Environmental, Tru7 Group and George Baker Transport who have helped me to fund some of the associated costs of the ride and not to forget Ipswich Witches Speedway Team for their continued support.

If you wish to follow my progress building up to (still a lot of training to do) and during the ride, you can do so on Instagram 'ridehomefromriga' and on my Facebook account

This is without a doubt my biggest and toughest challenge so far and I am hoping for your support to help get me through what I'm sure will be some pretty hard times both physically and mentally.

Best Wishes,

John
