End to End for Blood Bikes

Well I made it! 1000 miles in just over 18 days. I’ve been fuelled by the kindness of family, friends and strangers along the way who have supported me and given generously to my cause. Thank you so much, all of your support helps keep the blood bikes on the road making critical deliveries for the NHS. All run by volunteers who ride every day in all weathers. I’ve had the ride of my life and they might one day have the ride of your life.

This July I will be taking on the challenge of riding from Land's End to John O'Groats, covering almost 1,000 miles from the very south-west tip of England to the far north of Scotland fully unsupported carrying all I need on my bike including my tent. I am doing this to raise funds for Yeovil Freewheelers Blood Bikes, a charity that is very close to my heart as I have been a volunteer rider with the organisation for a number of years.

YFW Blood Bikes is run entirely by volunteers providing a free, 24-hour emergency medical courier service for the NHS across Somerset and Dorset. Their volunteers:

• Transport blood, medication, samples, equipment and other vital medical supplies whenever they are needed.

• Complete thousands of urgent deliveries annually, supporting hospitals, healthcare professionals and patients across the region.

• Operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, ensuring vital medical items reach where they are needed most.

As a volunteer rider, I have seen first-hand the difference this service makes to patients, hospitals and healthcare professionals. The charity receives no government funding and relies entirely on donations and fundraising to keep its fleet on the road and available whenever the call comes.

Every mile I ride and every pound raised through this challenge will help ensure that these life-saving services continue to be available, day and night, throughout the year.

One day they may well have the Ride of your Life.
