Winter swimming

Our aims are to help promote a better understanding of the breed and its needs. We are not just a rescue kennels we also have a behavioural unit and we give sanctuary to needy, old, infirm dogs or those in need of rehabilitation or a healing time.

Story

We sponsored Murphy at FOSTBC, he just reminded us so much of Charlie, our sadly missed dogbot. Unfortunately, Murph crossed the rainbow bridge this year. So in the Magnificent Smurfs memory, I have decided to do a bit of fundraising.

Every month, November to March inclusive, I'm going to swim in unheated open water, at least 250m, twice a month and also an additional dunking myself twice a month. These are the minimum I have committed to do, I'm hoping to do much more.

I have swam through winter before, but I was sensible and put a wetsuit on, as I figured out it gets cold, flipping cold! In fact below 5c and sometimes it's involved smashing ice. This year its going to be no wetsuit, just a swimming cossie. I will wear neoprene gloves and shoes as I don't fancy chilblains. On a particularly cold day I may even wear a fluffy bobble hat.

I would really appreciate any sponsorship, whether its a one off thing or a few pennies/pounds for each month completed.

Thank you
