Story
Hi, I’m Riley I have 2 Brothers, 2 sisters, 2 dogs and love being in the great outdoors. I’m working towards my Duke of Edinburgh award and in doing so I am raising money for Tiny Tickers.
Did you know that 1 in every 125 babies in the UK will be born with some form of congenital heart defect? Well, in September 2023 my baby sister Lottie was one of them.
I have been told about the work Tiny Tickers does and why they do it. Their work means that more people are told about problems with their babies hearts before they are born. I also know that by knowing about Lottie’s Heart problem before she was born, meant there was a plan and she was helped as soon as she entered the world so she had the BEST chance at getting better.
So, I am taking on ‘The 125 challenge’ to raise money that will help to support early detection, diagnosis, care & support of special babies like Lottie and their incredible families like ours.
Over the 3 months of working towards my DoE award I will be walking 125 miles. I will be documenting each of my walks and I will also have the support of my family and friends when completing them.
Tiny Tickers have told me that:
- Just £10 can offer vital support to a family who have received a diagnosis of CHD for their new baby.
- £12 sends a pack of data sonography cards to assist with scanning.
- £100 can help train a sonographer to better detect heart defects at the 20 week scan.
So every penny will go towards helping babies like Lottie and supporting families like ours.
Thank you for reading and for your support
Riley
