Story
Being a theme park based YouTube channel, there’s always one ride that seems to get a mention from me, that being Rita at Alton Towers. And a while back I said I'd ride it all day. Over a year later, i thought instead of just 1 day of riding it, what if I ride it 100 times.. and counting. And that means if I don't finish the race in one day, I must return the next day to complete the laps.
The charity I’ve chosen to support with this event is Alzheimer’s Society. My Nan recently passed away from dementia. And like so many families, it wasn't just losing her at the end, it was losing her slowly, piece by piece, long before she was gone. Having spent so much time with her and the whole family, dementia was really hard for us all to cope with seeing her like. The Alzheimer's Society is there for families like mine throughout that extremely tough journey, and now I want to give something back.
So I'm buckling my seatbelt over potentially multiple days at Alton Towers, and going to ride Rita over 100 times. When the laps start increasing I'm probably going to question every decision I've ever made.
But even though it will be difficult… right now, none of that matters. This one's for my Nan, and 100 laps or more still won't feel like enough.
RITA 100. For the Alzheimer's Society.
