Ritika Nair is raising money for Alzheimer's Society

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 ·

This is is not your average half marathon - from cultural landmarks to the city's quirky hidden secrets, you will get to explore the capital on a route like no other!

Story

Memories never fade away - from the joys of watching him overwater the pot plants in our garden, to being an utter nuisance with his pile of phones (enough for him to start his own shop!), to having my first cheeky sip of a drink with him, and being the ONLY customer to my in-house hair salon as a budding 9-year-old entrepreneur. The moments I’ve shared with my grandfather exist in my yesterday, my today and will continue to live on in my tomorrow.

Alzheimer’s is a challenge that so many families face today. Some may look at it as a loss, a need to grieve the loss of our loved ones’ ability to hold onto memories and moments that make them the person we love and appreciate so deeply. But I believe in something stronger: it’s hope, resilience and the power of banding together to negate this narrative. It’s empowerment and showing that this condition may change the way they remember, but it will never cease the existence of the love, the memories, the stories or the bonds shared.

And for this reason, this April, I will be running a half marathon for Alzheimer’s Society UK - not just for Muthacha (my grandfather), but for the millions of families affected.

Alzheimer’s Society are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today and by providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding ground-breaking research.

If you feel moved to support, whether it be by donating, sharing or simply learning more, I’d be truly grateful.

Any donation - big or small, would be truly appreciated and will bring us closer to a world where memories continue to last forever.

Thank you for being a part of my journey! 💙
