Story
Running saved my life when I was at my lowest. I’ve struggled with depression since I was 14 and there have been many days where my brain didn’t feel strong enough to get through the day. I am forever blessed that the same brain is now strong enough to not only get me through the day, but also help me to train for, and run a marathon. I’m doing this to raise money for Mind as it is a charity that is very close to my heart that I would love to give back to. I truly belive that I wouldn’t still be here without the support I received from some amazing mental health services, and I think every person should be able to access the same level of support I was given. This charity is also close to my heart as I will be running in memory of my uncle Pin, who we very sadly lost to suicide. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50. There is so much stigma around men needing to be ‘strong’ so you can’t speak up, yet I think my uncle was one of the strongest people to ever exist. While he won’t be able to watch me run this, I hope he’s watching over and I’m doing him proud. I’m raising money to help people like me and him; I’m doing it for the both of us.
