Kiltwalking: fashion as a force for good

Rachel Groves is raising money for Smart Works Scotland

Edinburgh Kiltwalk 2025 · 14 September 2025 · Start fundraising for this event

Smart Works exists to help unemployed women with the clothes, coaching and confidence they need to reach their full potential, secure employment and change the trajectory of their lives. Thanks to the deceptively simple power of our service, 67% of the women we see get the job within one month.

Story

Kiltwalking ... combining fashion as a force for good with gentle exercise and the perpetual search for good ice-cream!

Combining these two things I love [plus the incentive of ice-cream], I'm taking to the streets of Edinburgh to raise money for Smart Works Scotland to help us empower more unemployed women into work.

The email, or phone call, we receive from grateful clients saying 'I got the job' has brought me to tears more times than I care to admit.

We help any woman who is out of work, or on a zero hours contract, providing, for free, coaching, confidence training and clothes for an interview.

We deliver life changing moments … helping women to find the spring in their step, get back on track and boosting them on a journey to change their lives.

Please sponsor me if you can - we, and the women we support - will be extremely grateful. Thank you.
