Story
I'm braving the cold to help the homeless in St Albans!
On Friday 7th November 2025, I'll be participating in the St Albans Sleepout raising vital funds for Open Door. Participants will spend an evening outside under the stars, raising funds for Open Door along with Herts Young Homeless, The Living Room, Centre 33 and Emmaus.
My workplace already supports the homeless shelter New Hope in Watford and I want to do more for a different cause with the same noble goal. This sort of activity is new to me and while I'm confident I can do it (Even if I don't love it!), seeing your donations roll in will be a boost to my courage, and show everyone that it is doing real good for homeless people.
Please give what you can, if you can. Every penny counts!
Why Open Door need our support.
The Winter Beds Project provides people who would otherwise be rough sleeping with self-contained sleeper cabins. Each cabin provides secure accommodation with heating, electricity and en-suite facilities. Guests of the project are supported to find secure accommodation to move on to by the rough sleeper outreach team. The project runs from December through to the beginning of April and can accommodate 4 people each night on top of the 12 bed spaces at the Night Shelter which is open 365 days per year. Last year, the Winter Beds project cost £38,000.
So please show your support, I'm sleeping under the stars for one night,
