Story
Four riders. Five days. One mission through the beating heart of Rugby League.
Over five demanding days, four beneficiaries of the Seriously Injured Players Fund are taking on the RL Heartland Handcycle Challenge. Trekking across the sport's core heartlands on Batac Wheelchair arm bikes, they will visit local clubs and push their physical limits to give back to the charity that supported them when their lives changed in an instant.
Why Your Support Matters
When catastrophic, life-altering injuries happen on the pitch, life changes overnight. Operating under Rugby League Cares, the Seriously Injured Players Fund provides lifelong practical, emotional, and financial support to severely injured players. From specialist medical equipment and home accessibility adaptations to immediate family care and retraining, the charity ensures no player ever faces recovery alone.
Meet the Team
Taking on this punishing physical challenge are four men who embody true resilience:
Jimmy Gittins, who broke his neck in two places playing in 2002 and turned severe injury into a lifetime of inspirational endurance challenges.
Pete Stephenson, who suffered a crushed spine and dislocated neck on the pitch, defying initial medical predictions to rebuild his career and support fellow injured players.
Ryan Glynn and Jon Power, who bring their own powerful stories of determination, rehabilitation, and deep commitment to giving back to the Rugby League family.
How You Can Help
Every pound raised directly funds life-changing grants, adaptations, and ongoing welfare for injured players navigating life after severe injury.
Please donate today, share our page, and cheer the team on as they call at clubs across the heartlands!
