My final marathon epic fundraiser for Camphill Milton Keynes

Ross Lane is raising money for Camphill Milton Keynes

MK Marathon for Camphill MK · 5 May 2025 ·

By taking part in one or more of the races during MK Marathon weekend support raise vital funds for Camphill MK and help us continue to grow through our large capital expansion project to build new accessible homes for adults.

Story

To begin this story, I have run 3 marathons in my life (so far).

Until now, all have been in London - starting in 2001, then a big gap until 2012 and then 2013.

Those were in memory of my wonderful sister and my amazing Dad, both of whom are sadly no longer with us.

By some kind of miracle (I suffer from very sore shins when I run too much) I managed to complete them all.

After the last one, I swore I should stop and not do another.

Here we are in 2025 and I am dusting off my trainers (and contacting the physio) again.

To give some context to Camphill, my wife Stephanie and I enjoyed a Take That concert in Milton Keynes recently, and by chance I met those who benefit from their work.

I was truly touched and keen to help in any way.

Camphill MK is a supported living community for adults with learning difficulties and autism. They support over 70 adults who, against all odds, live, work and celebrate life together with the support and encouragement of staff and volunteers who help them to live as independently as possible and reach their full potential.

By supporting my marathon quest, you will not only enable Camphill to continue providing services to their residents but also support them to build homes to support even more adults with disabilities. The new accessible houses are part of a major capital scheme across their Milton Keynes sites.

This feels like it’s meant to be. My wife Stephanie and I had our first "proper" date at a Take That concert at Wembley Stadium, got married 2 years later, and have 3 beautiful children. I am very lucky.

I am therefore running one last time to:

* make a difference and help change the lives of the beautiful people at Camphill who will really benefit from our support

* remember my sister and my Dad

* acknowledge that if we help others, anything is possible

Anything you can give, even if it's just turning out to support me batter these legs one final time, it would be truly appreciated.
