For the past 2 years I have been volunteering at HCA HealthONE Rocky Mountain Children's Hospital (RMHC) in Denver, most often in the Ronald McDonald Family Room. I enjoy the opportunity to give back to my community and believe in what the Family Room provides to families during difficult times. Over the past two years I have come to understand the importance of the Ronald McDonald family room; as the room and the volunteer team offer comfort, services, and support to families while being down the hall from their child's hospital room. Staying close allows parents to better communicate with their child's medical team, alleviates stress, and helps with coping. It assists in providing a safe space for families to focus on the health and recovery of their sick children, as well as on themselves.
