Vranch House is an Independent Day School for children aged 2-18 with significant physical difficulties & other complex medical needs. We also have a Therapy Centre providing clinical services for young people aged 0-19 years with a wide range of physical difficulties from mild to very complex.

Story

On 26th April 2026 we'll both be running the London Marathon! As brothers, we've previously participated in several running events together but this year we've been lucky enough to secure ballot entries for the London Marathon. It's a great opportunity for us to fundraise for a Children's Charity that's very close to our hearts and we'd love your support and generosity to do that.

Vranch House Children’s Charity is a lifeline for children and young people across Devon who live with complex physical difficulties. It is a place filled with warmth, expertise and joy — a place where children aged 2 to 19 are supported not just to learn, but to thrive, communicate, play, and experience moments that truly matter.

Many of the pupils and outpatients who come to Vranch House face profound challenges: physical disabilities, sensory impairments, communication needs, complex medical conditions and, for some, life‑limiting diagnoses. Yet every day at Vranch House is filled with purpose, laughter and possibility. The team believes that every child deserves a meaningful, fun and fulfilling day — and they work tirelessly to make that happen.

We have first-hand experience of the incredible support that Vranch House provides to both children and their families. Rob’s daughter (and Chris’ niece), Poppy, has been an outpatient for the past nine years, regularly attending physiotherapy, occupational therapy, orthotic appointments, and specialist speech and language therapy in an environment that is both fun and exceptionally caring.

Vranch House has also enabled Poppy to try, loan, and receive expert advice on a wide range of specialist equipment, which has made a huge difference to our everyday lives. Through their support, Poppy has accessed music therapy, hydrotherapy and frame running and met other children with similar needs — these opportunities have had a truly positive and lasting impact on her development and wellbeing.

The school follows its own specialist VIEW Curriculum, designed entirely around each child’s individual needs and aspirations. It ensures that every pupil receives a personalised, creative and meaningful education that supports their wellbeing, development and independence.

What makes Vranch House truly extraordinary is the breadth of support available under one roof. Children access therapies and experiences that transform their daily lives, nursing care, 24‑hour postural management, and even on‑site medical clinics so families don’t have to travel for essential appointments.

And yet, much of this incredible work is only possible because of charitable donations.

Around 40% of the cost of every medical appointment and every day of education at Vranch House must be funded through donations and fundraising. The remaining costs are covered by the NHS or Devon County Council — but without charitable support, the charity simply could not continue offering the level of care that makes Vranch House so special.

Some of the most life‑changing services — including hippotherapy, music therapy and Innowalk sessions — are entirely funded by charitable donations. Without supporters and fundraisers, children would lose access to these therapies that help them move, communicate, relax, express themselves and experience joy.

Alongside the school, the Vranch House Therapy Centre supports more than 2,000 outpatients every year, providing specialist therapy across North, West, East and Mid Devon. Children are seen at Vranch House, in special schools, mainstream schools and at home — wherever they need support most.

The charity also provides essential specialist equipment such as standing frames, walkers, adapted seating, therapy couches and communication‑supporting IT. These items are not luxuries — they are vital for children’s physical comfort, emotional wellbeing and ability to learn.

Every donation, no matter the size, directly helps a child experience more comfort, more independence, more joy and more opportunity.

By supporting Vranch House, you’re helping to change the lives of some of the most extraordinary children and families in Devon. Thank you for making a difference.
