Story
Having the ‘stage 4 cloud’ lifted midway through 2024 was a huge milestone (and relief!) in my 18 month melanoma journey and one that has allowed me to draw a line in a period of our lives we’d never wish on anyone.
Ever since, I’ve been committed to turning our experience into a positive one and was honoured to be accepted onto Melanoma Fund Board of Trustees late last year. Melanoma Fund focuses on raising awareness and educating to help prevent melanoma and all types of skin cancer in the sport and outdoor recreation space.
As part of my first year working for the charity, my close friends have stretched the initial 10km intentions into joining me in attempting to run (mainly complete!) Manchester Half Marathon, hoping to raise funds specifically for our Sunguarding Sport campaign, which delivers awareness and safety training for youth and sports clubs / groups across the UK (https://melanoma-fund.co.uk/sunguarding-sport/)
Whilst donations are always welcome and greatly appreciated by the Melanoma Fund, we completely understand that times are tough. If you can spare just a few minutes to read the links below, that alone would likely make a difference to your family and friends:-
