SJS Awareness UK is a charitable organisation providing information and support for those affected by Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN) which are forms of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs), supporting Research and raising awareness of SJS/TEN in the UK.

Story

Rafe Lawton became critically ill after being diagnosed with SJS/TEN March 2022. Rafe remained under the expert care of Alder Hey Children's Hospital for 16 months until he passed away peacefully on Tuesday 4th June 2023.

As a family we are truly devastated. We love him and will love him forever. Rafe was rare by name and rare by nature. In his love of life, sporting prowess, tenacity, popularity but more importantly in his ability to love so strongly.

To everyone who has supported us during this terrible time, thank you. Your kindness has had a reverberant impact and will never be forgotten.

The impact of Rafe’s passing has been far reaching, and has touched many lives, from his devoted family and friends, team mates, teachers, coaches, local community and the incredible staff at Alder Hey. Alder Hey really is the land of remarkable people.

We will try to put one foot in front of the other and try to continue with the rest of our lives with Rafe’s courage and strength.
