Rob, Jake,Dan and others 24hr (24x 5km) £100k challenge
we're back for the fifth installment of this incredible challenge, last year we had the £100k target in sight but eventually we didn't get there so this year we are determined even more so to smash through the £100k mark.
i know we say we are raising for Diane, Sheila, Donald, Nick and Jan but really we're attempting to raise as much as possible for anyone else who has had to use LOROS HOSPICE for family members or friends.
The work LOROS staff do and the service they offer whether its paid staff or volunteers is exceptional, it really is and i do joke every time i play the lottery it would be nice to go and buy them a brand new building so they can offer their great service to even larger numbers then they already do, it takes around a £150k PER MONTH to fund the hospice so anything any one can raise really does make a difference.
below is a lovely letter we received from LOROS CEO Camilla Barrow recently
Dear Rob, Jake and Dan,
We want to say a huge thank you to each of you for everything you’ve done in support of LOROS this year.
Back in March, you took on the incredible challenge of a 24-hour run, pushing yourselves to the limit for such a meaningful cause. As if that wasn’t enough, Rob and Jake then went on to complete the London Marathon, once again showing amazing dedication and determination. Together, through these efforts, you raised an outstanding £21,215.00 in 2025.
Your commitment doesn’t stop there. Since 2021, Rob and Dan – with Jake joining in 2024 and many of your close friends supporting along the way – have helped raise an incredible £82,000 for LOROS. This is an extraordinary achievement, and one that has made a real difference to the patients and families who rely on our care.
We are so grateful for the time, energy, and passion you continue to put into your fundraising. Not only have you raised vital funds, but you’ve also inspired so many others by showing what can be achieved through determination and teamwork.
On behalf of everyone at LOROS, thank you for everything you’ve done – and continue to do – to support us.
With deepest gratitude and warmest regards,
Camilla Barrow
LOROS is a charity whose aim is to enhance the quality of life of adult patients with cancer, progressive neurological conditions and end-stage organ failure for whom curative treatment is no longer possible. Patients are treated at the Hospice and in the community based upon clinical need, regardless of background and the ability to pay.
what started off in 2021 as just me and Dan trying to raise a bit for charity has since grown with Jake being present since 2023 and people have joined in and made it a great spectacle giving up there time throughout the day and night to help us and join in with the runs to raise a significant amount for LOROS. so a special THANK YOU goes not just to ex managers/coaches/players/work Colleagues who have helped but people from all walks of life, the people from my sons football team, Ash, Joe and Dan from the Stirrup Cup pub also have given up there time. Dave Hobbs managed to do quite abit also last year as well as Jakes Dad, Simon. countless friends and family but without Leicester City FC (for the use of the stadium) and the LOROS staff this wouldn't be possible so now that you have read this really long Story please if you can spare anything, it doesn't matter how small as it all adds up to the overall total of £18,100.00 please do.
THANK YOU once again
Rob, Jake and Dan
