Rob Tonkin is raising money for Epilepsy Action

Loch Ness Marathon 2025 · 28 September 2025 ·

Epilepsy Action is creating a world without limits for everyone affected by epilepsy, connecting people with others, and providing support and information you can trust. We’re calling out the misunderstanding, prejudice and barriers that stop people with epilepsy living their best life.

Story

As many of you know, living with epilepsy has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. This year, however, has brought new challenges as my condition has worsened. I have had to give up driving and now experience seizures most days. One of the biggest hurdles faced by those with epilepsy is the general lack of understanding, even within healthcare systems like the NHS. Additionally, the feeling of isolation can be overwhelming.

Epilepsy Action is an incredible organization that works tirelessly to educate people—ranging from government officials to healthcare providers—about epilepsy. They also offer vital support services for individuals affected by this condition, including a befriending service that helps combat loneliness and provides a sense of community. Epilepsy is more common than many realize, yet it remains shrouded in misconceptions. Too often, it is seen merely as an inconvenience characterized by flashing lights and falls, rather than a serious and unpredictable health condition.

Epilepsy Action is on a mission to create a world without limits for everyone impacted by epilepsy. They are dedicated to connecting individuals with one another and providing reliable support and information. Together, we can challenge the misunderstandings and prejudices that prevent those with epilepsy from living their best lives.

On September 28th, 2025, I will be participating in the Loch Ness Marathon to raise funds for Epilepsy Action. My goal is to raise £100 to support their vital work in advocacy and education. I invite you to join me in this important cause—your support can help make a difference in the lives of many who are affected by epilepsy. Let’s stand together against the barriers that hold us back! Epilepsy may say stop; together we say go!
