We are Rob Ward and Jason Dawson. We are a two Multiple Sclerosis sufferers who don’t let this terrible condition slow us down! Our zest for life and adrenaline is not diminished, in fact it gives us purpose! Having grown up in the best decade (the 1980’s, obvs!) our kart and our team pay tribute to this amazing decade.
We are delighted to be raising funds for the Lincoln MS Therapy Centre, whose staff work hard for those afflicted by this awful condition and their families.
We are delighted to be sponsored by the amazing folks at Just Audi VW without whose kind support we could not do this. (www. justaudivw.co.uk)
We will be surfing the crowd with our buckets on the day so dig deep to help this fantastic organisation!
UPDATE…
To all of our incredible donors. A quick update for you on an amazing day yesterday…
The race was very well attended, with over 30 teams of businesses and privateers all competing with a variety of home built contraptions to race down Flaxengate in the fastest time possible.
Our team "We are the 1980’s" featured 80’s icons including Doc, Marty McFly, Hulk Hogan, Prince, Freddie Mercury and a digraced childrens’ entertainer.
Each team completed three runs with an additional run to decide the top 10.
After two runs we were just outside the top 10. The heavens opened but this did not dampen our spirits, or our common sense. Fuelled by a lunchtime beer, our emboldened team decided to increase the tyre pressures and go all out. We were in it to win…
The hastily revised, beer induced team strategy of "Full send, no brakes…" resulted in our kart upside down in the barriers surrounded with concerned safety marshalls enquiring if I was ok.
With hindsight, my response of "i can’t feel my legs!" was a little unfair, as i couldn’t resist - this is normal and i was fine, so apologies to the marshalls for that one!
The total raised so far stands at nearly £1,950 (including off-line donations and Gift Aid). We are keeping our just giving page open until the end of the month in the hope that we can crack the £2,000 mark.
Congratulations to winners Runway Rustons and thank you to everyone who helped our motley crew.
Thank you to you all for your generosity.
