Thank you for helping to make breakthroughs possible in dementia research.

Story

Having lost my mum and a close friend Mike, who was so very young, to this cruel condition, I have since met and I hope supported, so many more friends and colleagues who have faced their own struggles with close family members.

There is just such a sad inevitability of what you can expect following a diagnosis…at least that is the case now. Surely we can do more in the same way scientists have made such immense strides in the battle against cancer.

Anything you can do to help me feel more Ironman than copper man in the last few kilometres and raise funds that will help to beat this cruel condition would be really appreciated!

1 in 3 people born today will develop dementia in their lifetime unless we bring about life-changing preventions and treatments.

Dementia is not a natural part of aging. It is caused by physical diseases, most commonly Alzheimer's. The damage to a brain with Alzheimer's can leave it weighing 140g less than a healthy one. That's about the weight of an orange. But this shows that Alzheimer's is a physical disease and through research, we know diseases can be slowed. They can be stopped.

I'm fundraising to help fund this life-changing research.
