Story
Thanks for taking the time to check this out! I was extremely lucky to get a spot in the London Marathon through the ballot, but I'd love to use this opportunity to raise awareness and funds for a charity started by my local Filipino community back when I was a kid.
We are Handog Natin, which translates to "Our Gift" in Tagalog. The charity has focused efforts on supporting communities in the Philippines with assistance in disaster relief, livelihood, education, and medication. I've been training for this marathon the past few months and, as a first-time runner, it's been pretty tough. I've bought running equipment for the first time and dedicated many hours to some painfully cold training.
To everyone who knows how lazy I am, I know you know how much effort I've put into this and I hope that resolve inspires any contribution to or sharing of this fundraiser.
I've come to appreciate what a privilege it is to have the resources for a marathon and the luxury to worry about my training. Through our support, we can provide assistance to those who have to worry about more basic and essential needs. I've not walked a mile in their shoes, so I'll run a few in mine for a cause that is very close to me and my community.
