Story
On May 26th, I will be attempting to walk 36 miles (58km) along the Chiltern Way.
I am doing so not just because the views are fantastic, but to raise money for St Anne’s Catholic Primary School PSA.
All funds raised will go towards supporting the year 6 residential trip later this year.
The school residential is a fantastic opportunity for children to step outside of their comfort zone, face new challenges and develop as human beings. For many, it is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to enjoy adventurous activities, away from home, led by expert instructors. It boosts children’s self-esteem, confidence and resilience in ways that are inaccessible in a classroom setting.
My own experiences of school residentials gave me a lifetime love of the outdoors. Many years ago, when I still had functional knees, I ran this very same route in around 6 hours, solo and unsupported. This time I am taking along an old friend (I’ve known him a long time, and he’s old… 48 hours older than me) to keep me company. It’s a tough, hilly route but we’re hoping to set a fast pace and walk it in 10 hours.
Anything you can donate will be much appreciated by us and, more importantly, the children I teach.
