We tragically lost both our parents in the same, sudden circumstances. In 2011 we lost our beautiful Mum, Eleanor, after she suffered a sudden heart attack. In 2022 we lost our amazing Dad, Robert, after he suffered a sudden heart attack. Both our parents were young, healthy and had so much to live for. It is very likely that the heart attacks they both suffered were brought on by hereditary heart conditions. The heartbreak we have suffered as a family is indescribable. We never got to say goodbye to either of our parents. We have so much more to say to them and we have so much more we want to ask them.

Fraser and I shared lots of happy memories with both of our parents at Thornhill Golf Club. As children, we would cycle to the club with Dad and play while he did his treasury work in the old caravan. For the cycle home, we would take some sugar lumps from the clubhouse and feed them to Rambo the donkey! As we got older and started to play golf, we have great memories of golf lessons during the school holidays and competing in the 3 and 7 hole competitions. As adults, we played socially with our parents and can remember hurrying to finish dinner so we could play 9 holes before it started to get dark! Because of all these happy memories, we think a charity golf day is a perfect way to raise money in memory of our parents.

The amazing research carried out by British Heart Foundation has already helped thousands of families. We hope the research BHF do will one day help families like ours prevent heart attacks caused by hereditary heart conditions.
