Story
Sometimes the best challenges are the ones you don't have long to think about.
On Saturday 27th June 2026, I did the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge after deciding to take it on at short notice. Because it wasn't planned as a fundraising event, I didn't ask anyone for sponsorship beforehand. I also didn't do much training!
The challenge involved walking more than 24 miles, climbing Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, completing over 60,000 steps, and spending 15 hours on my feet in very warm weather. It pushed me physically and mentally every step of the way, but completing it made every blister, ache and moment of doubt worthwhile.
Afterwards, a number of people said they wished they'd had the opportunity to sponsor me. So I've decided to set up this page to give anyone who would like to support the challenge the chance to do so.
As CEO of the Dorothy Parkes Centre, I see every day the difference our work makes. We provide a safe, welcoming place where people can connect, access support, develop new skills and take part in activities that strengthen our community. Every donation helps us continue offering these vital opportunities and ensures that no one is left behind.
If my 15-hour trek over the Yorkshire Dales inspires you to donate the cost of a coffee, a lunch or whatever you can afford, it would mean a great deal. Every pound will help us continue making a positive difference in our community. I've set the target at £600 which equates to just under 1p per step taken on the challenge.
Thank you for supporting both my challenge and, more importantly, the work of our community centre.
