Bikepacking across Egypt: Cairo to Aswan

Bowel Research UK funds research into bowel cancer and other bowel diseases. Every year over 16,000 people die from bowel cancer in the UK and over a million suffer from bowel disease. By investing in the best science across the UK, we’re saving and improving people’s lives.

Story

Hello,

We are Rob & Ian and we are setting off on a self-funded and self-supported bikepacking trip across Egypt, from Cairo to Aswan, following the first stage of the classic Tour d'Afrique route - the Pharaoh's Delight. This route stretches from the Pyramids of Giza, to the Temples in Aswan.

We are asking for your support in raising money for Bowel Research UK, where your full donation will go to Bowel Research. We will be pushing ourselves incredibly hard, cycling from between 6-12 hours a day covering an average of 160km a day for a full week.

As we cover 1000km over mountains passes, through deserts, along coastal roads, and by the banks of the Nile, we will be travelling light, carrying only the essentials for bike maintenance and sustaining ourselves. We will have no support, only relying on hotels and local shops for supplies and sleeping.

Why We’re Doing This:

We would like to raise money for Bowel Research UK, a cause we care about. We want to challenge ourselves physically and mentally and turn the experience into something meaningful beyond just the adventure.

How You Can Help:

Donate if you can. Every bit helps and every penny will go to Bowel Research UK.
