I am seeking sponsorship to raise money for Parkinson’s UK by cycling in an event known as Chase the Sun (North).

The challenge was to cycle 200 miles (or 321 kms) between sunrise and sunset on 20 June. The ride started at Whitley Bay, Newcastle-upon-Tyne on the east coast of England and finished at Ayr on the west coast of Scotland. It was a mammoth challenge for me and I feared that I may have bitten off more than I could chew but I managed to complete the challenge before sunset and had about 45 minutes to spare.

I thank everyone who has already sponsored me and I point out that it’s not too late to chip a little more into the Justgiving pot before 5th July. A donor has undertaken to double the accumulated amount in my Justgiving page on that date.

Parkinson’s Disease is a dreadful affliction and Parkinson’s UK does great work - both in scientific research for a cure and in helping those currently stricken with the disease. My brother, Willie, is one of the many people affected by Parkinson's Disease.

I pray that the research being carried out by Parkinson's UK and others will soon bear the fruits of success.
