“At the last Vision support Christmas lunch, it seems the members were stuck for fundraising ideas.

So it came to pass that, whist I was innocently enjoying our annual festive event, evil forces were at work quietly hatching a plan to expose me to pain and ridicule in the service of the society. Thus, the scheme to make the Chairman walk the 26 miles of the Yorkshire Three Peaks was born.

A few glasses of prosecco later my resolve was broken and my fate was sealed…..”

Volunteering for over 25 years for Vision Support Harrogate District as a trustee, I have witnessed the difference our support services and activities have and continue to make to those in our community who are living with sight loss. We want to make sure that we are able to continue that lifelong support for many more years to come. With no government funding we rely on the generosity of our community to keep our support going, therefore, I’d better start walking!
