Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice - Pedal to Paris - 210 miles - Robert's fundraiser

Pedal to Paris · 10 September 2025 to 13 September 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
I am really excited about this challenge as it will allow me to:
- Raise vital funds for Phyllis Tuckwell's new Hospice building Project
- Keep memories of my late wife, Philippa, alive, who received exceptional care from Phyllis Tuckwell in her last few months.
- Prove that rapidly approaching your mid seventies is not a barrier to taking on new challenges
All of the money I raise from this challenge will be going towards Phyllis Tuckwell's new Hospice building Project. The building work is progressing really well and they are still on target to open to patients in early 2026.
The ride will start at the new Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham and end in Paris. It will cover a total distance of approx. 210 miles and a climb of around 8,200 feet.
All Phyllis Tuckwell's services are provided free, but this is only possible due to the generosity of its donors. The Government/NHS only provide 25% of their costs.
Philippa was an amazing woman, a highly successful sales person and business owner, great mother to our son, Alex, a loving wife and best friend for me, and, in her final few months, an inspiration to fellow cancer patients to stay positive.
She was diagnosed in April 2020 with peritoneal cancer, with a prognosis of a few months to live. A combination of her positive attitude and treatment at St Lukes Cancer Centre, Guildford, ensured she managed to lead an active life up to August 2022.
In her final few months Philippa and I were delighted with the level of care and support she received from Phyllis Tuckwell.
For me, this challenge encourages me to stay active and push to improve my fitness and stamina. I am determined to prove that just because you are in your seventies it doesn't mean you have to slow down or give up on new challenges.
