Story
My name is Jac, I'm 15 years old. I have a younger brother Celt who is 12 years old and a little sister, Seren who is 6 years old.
Celt has Cystic Fibrosis. He is really brave and has been through a lot since he was a baby. He had his right lung removed when he was 5 years old because it suffered so much damage which was caused by CF.
Celt has to take lots of medication, does lots of physio, nebulisers and lots of other treatments to keep himself well. He never complains, loves life and just gets on with things. He is like any other 12 year old, very cheeky , full of energy and is lots of fun!
I have run the Dragons Dash myself a few times, but am now old enough to run the 10k which will be a new challenge for me.
The most amazing part of my fundraising this year is that it's actually OUR fundraising! Celt and Seren want to join in too, by running the Dragons Dash! Celt may find it a little challenging as he can get breathless when he runs longer distances. However, an important part of daily treatment for CF is exercise and physio to keep the chest clear so this will be a great challenge for Celt.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition which causes sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive system. It affects more than 10,800 people in the UK. One in 25 of us carries the faulty gene that causes it, usually without knowing.
Cystic fibrosis comes with challenges, affecting our physical health, mental wellbeing and how we choose to live our lives. But our community is uniting towards the ultimate goal of effective treatment for all.
