My dad Geoff was such a well known face around Leigh park we couldn’t go anywhere without being stopped for a chat or him abusing someone 😂

He worked locally as a taxi driver for years and was also involved with local football since I could remember, in his later years he still reffed on the weekends as he couldn’t leave it he just loved football, it was his life, he got up to watch QPR as often as he could, still remaining an avid supporter since a young age.

Throughout my younger years he had leukaemia which went into remission then came back, eventually leading to him having a bone marrow transplant which saw the back of it for good.

When I was 16 he had a heart attack in front of me but within a week was out riding a bike to get himself back fit. He always bounced back from everything

On the 25th may 2020 after an extremely short battle with metastatic lung cancer we lost him, i still struggle to wrap my head round the fact that this time he didn’t bounce back.

Losing him was made harder due to it happening it in lockdown and having so many restrictions put in place from not being able to visit him in hospital and only being allowed one 1 hour visit in the hospice to say goodbye forever to the man who had always been there as a constant in my world, as my dad, the best granddad to my kids and also a friend.

I can’t thank ffc enough for honouring him with a team, I know he will be looking down smiling and wishing the lads all the best in all they do .
