Sands is the charity speaking up about pregnancy and baby loss, saving babies’ lives and supporting bereaved families. As the UK’s leading pregnancy and baby loss charity, we’re creating a community of compassionate and lifesaving changemakers, whose voices inspire change and turn understanding into action. Together, we are saving babies’ lives and improving maternity safety and bereavement care.

To mark the year in which I'm heading towards my 50th birthday, I’ve set myself a challenge:

50 acts of giving back to the community.

Over the coming year, I’ll be taking on marathons, half marathons, music gigs, auctions, and plenty more, all in support of five charities that have played an important part in my life.

The charities I’ll be supporting are:

Great Ormond Street Hospital – for the life-changing work they do for children and their families.

Bath Cats and Dogs Home – caring for and rehoming animals in need.

Reach Inclusive Arts - promoting inclusion for disabled people and seeking innovative ways to entertain, involve and educate through high quality community projects.

Shelter – helping to fight homelessness and unsafe housing.

SANDS – supporting those affected by the loss of a baby.

This journey is about celebrating life, giving thanks, and helping to make a difference for others. It all starts September 23rd 2025 and ends on my 50th BIRTHDAY, September 23rd 2026.
