Story

Hi everyone,

I’m Rob, and I’m taking on a once-in-a-lifetime challenge to help raise funds for the National Literacy Trust (NLT), a charity that’s transforming lives through the power of literacy.

For many of us, reading is second nature. But for too many children in the UK, it’s a daily struggle. Last year alone, one in four 11-year-olds left primary school without reaching the expected level in reading. That gap doesn’t just affect their schoolwork; it shapes their entire future.

📚 Children who fall behind in literacy are:

5x more likely to struggle with English at age 11

4x more likely to be unemployed at age 34

3x more likely to face mental health challenges as adults

And the gap starts early. Children from the poorest backgrounds begin school 19 months behind their more privileged peers. That’s not just unfair, it’s heartbreaking.

That’s why I’m stepping up to take on the Arctic Challenge, a tough but inspiring wilderness adventure involving dog sledding, ice fishing, and hiking across frozen landscapes. I’ll be pushing myself to the limit, all to help children rewrite their futures.

With your support, we can make a real difference. My target of £2,000 could help the NLT reach 1,000 parents with practical tools and advice to support their child’s early language development and help give them the best possible start in life.

Every penny raised goes directly to the National Literacy Trust.

Thank you so much for visiting my page and supporting this cause. Together, we can help children discover the joy of reading and the confidence to dream big.
