Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I last asked for support of this nature over 15 years ago so I hope you will give me the benefit of the doubt and hear what I (and Harry – son for those of you who don’t know him) are up to. In short, he is doing the hard graft and running the Florence marathon on 30th November 2025. At that time, I will be sitting on a beach in Zanzibar, but I am brazenly asking for you to support him because he is running at my behest for ‘Promise works’. This is a local Somerset charity that mentors disadvantaged children by matching them with adult volunteers who commit to a minimum 2-year relationship with their mentee and provide what can be the only stable adult relationship in that young person’s life. Attached below are some links to the ‘Promise works’ website but after my first year as a mentor my own view is that this programme can and does change lives and hence is hugely valuable. Council funding was pulled several years ago so ‘Promise works’ needs all the help it can get. I am a mentor because I enjoy it and because I want other children to have some of the advantages that Harry, Charlie and Millie had. It does work and more mentors and money are always needed. Please support me and Harry if you can. I plan to double whatever is raised up to my target.
